A mid 18c eight day longcase clock, the 32cm arched brass dial signed William Dobie, Falkirk no.270 in the arch and having an engraved dial centre and scroll spandrels. The silvered chapter ring has Roman numerals and Arabic outer five minute markers (hands detached). The four pillar movement has anchor escapement and is rack striking on a bell. It is contained in a mahogany case with swan neck pediments to the hood which have brass pateras and a central eagle and ball finial. The dial is flanked by fluted columns and the long trunk door has a wavy top and flanked by fluted quarter columns to the trunk edges. The base has a rectangular panel of mahogany within a boxwood line, and has a cut out plinth with bracket feet. The clock 220cm h.

Dial in good condition. Movement fairly clean and complete although hands detached. Case in good condition but with slight split to left hand base panel.
