South Presentation Convent - Correspondence signed by then Bishop of Cork John Murphy 1815-1847, in Latin with seal' dated 1818 15x18cm
It seems that this letter may be a 'direction' or a 'permission' to permit the celebration of Mass and all mass services for all the faithful and deceased faithfull.

It appears to be a declaration by the Secretary of the 'Propagation of the Faith' ( a powerful Vatican body ) that through offerings (financial) support for the pastoral programs of the church, catholic priests, brothers and nuns etc.

The grant is that of perpetual privilege.

Such a grant I imagine could have been seen as a permission to accept 'donations' for perpetual graces , sayings of masses etc thus creating an income for the South Presentation order.

It is under the seal of bishop John Murphy , the then RC bishop of Cork which of course would have been the route in which all such 'official declarations' would have been delivered. Of interest, it was only in 1829 that Catholic emancipation was achieved by Daniel O'Connell etc .
