.31 cal, 4 inch, blued, octagonal barrel. Front stud sight. Top flat marked "Address Col Colt London" (on two lines). Lower loading rod. Five shot cylinder with stage coach scene and London proof stamps. Case hardened steel body marked "Colts Patent". Steel spur hammer. Silvered trigger guard and grip frame. Polished wood grips. Contained in its polished mahogany box. The lid with brass escutcheon. Internal red velvet fittings. Containing blued "Colts Patent" bullet mould ... Blued steel nipple key and screwdriver ... Copper and brass revolver powder flask by "James Dixon & Son" ... Steel cleaning rod ... Empty percussion cap tin. The lid with printed label "Directions For Loading Colts Pistols".
