1885 NILE EXPEDITION: Unpaid Officer's letter sent to Capt. Cockburn, Rifle Brigade, Aldershot from Capt. Commandant C.R. Orde, 'DAL' (a Nile transport steamer) and endorsed "On Active Service/No Stamps". Env. is cancelled by "WADI-HALFA" c.d.s. (6 Jul. 1885) and has boxed "T" and large "2½" h/s charge marks. Capt. Orde was directly involved in the management of river transport. Backflap partly torn away due to rough opening, leaving part of Aldershot arrival mark. Otherwise fine.
