A FIRST WORLD WAR PAIR AND MEMORIAL PLAQUE TO THE ROYAL SCOTS FUSILIERS. A Great War pair comprising War Medal and Victory Medal named to 43412 Pte E.KING R.S. FUS. The plaque 'Ernest King'. Ernest King was born c. 1895 in Hartlepool to his mother Catherine, he enlisted at Hartlepool and served with the 1st Battalion of the Royal Scots Fusiliers, a machine gunner, he died on the 3rd October 1918 probably at about 6.15am along with a number of his comrades who died when a salvo of German Artillery hit the Regiment's front line trenches. He is buried at the Rumily-En Cambresis Communal Cemetery Extension south of Cambrai. This is one of the smaller cemeteries in the area with only 78 men buried there. Sold with copied research, photograph of his headstone and photograph of the recipient in uniform. *CR War medal tarnished. A lot fee of £8 inc.
