19th Century ERZGEBIRGE Nor Ark (Noah's Ark) German flat bottom wooden Ark with original painted detail and with an extensive collection of hand carved animals reptiles and insects and accompanied by the original printed contents list in German, French & English. Ark with sliding door. Ark approx 34.5cm in length x 14.5cm in width x 24cm in height. Base approx 49cm in length. Footnote: Arks such as these were popular with strict Christian and Anabaptist faiths as playing with toys on the Sabbath was forbidden unless the toy related to religious teachings, hence Noah's Ark.
