AN 1855 PATTERN STATE OFFICIAL's SWORD AND SCABBARD. With a 72cm tapering pointed blade marked with a Weyersburg Solingen Knight's head mark (beneath shell guard) and obscured numbers to the other side, The shell shaped guard with a finely cast two-part Imperial Russian coat of arms, with wire wound grip, narrow bow and decorative vase shaped pommel. The leather covered wooden scabbard with decorated mounts and belt hanger. 82.5cm overall.
See 'Russian Sidearms, Polearms & Bayonets' by A.N. Kulinsky, 2001 pp 298-302 for similar examples. *CR Damage to scabbard at joints of the mounts to the leather covered body. Otherwise a nice example.
