PAIR OF 1859 6d GREEN SINGLE-FRANKING COVERS WITH PACKET "1/-" MARKS - INC. RARE "CANADIAN.PKT" C.D.S.; 9 Apr. 163 env. to Rutland with 1859 6d tied by light Montreal duplex but also having a superb Handstruck "1/-" alongside which was almost certainly struck by the PO clerk on the Allan Line S.S. 'Nova Scotian'; plus similar 11 Aug. 1864 env. from Ottawa to Scotland with 1859 6d Green tied (?) by light circular numerals(?) but above the half oz and so with fair Montreal "SHORT PAID___[6]/FINE___[3]" but crossed out with mainly fine rare Packet-ship "CANADIAN.PKT" cds (13 Aug.; presumably struck on the Allan Line S.S. 'St. David' - on her first voyage) and matching very fine ship's P.O. clerk's h.s. "1/-" alongside as well as a very fine "GLASGOW PACKET/UNPAID" d.s. (26 Aug.) Good pair.
