Eleven old original newspapers and periodicals – four dating back to the 19th century, one marking the conquering of Mount Everest and another the death of Queen Victoria. The lot comprises a March 1856 edition of Picture Times, with a front cover design of Covent Garden Theatre; a 1905 edition of Black and White; a May 1896 Christian Herald; A September 1888 Young Folks Paper; a June 1889 Ally Sloper’s Half Holiday; a 1953 News Chronicle, with news of Everest being climbed; the Aldine Half-Holiday Libr4ary featuring a slave ship on the cover, undated by No. 15 Volume 1; a Daily Graphic dated January 23, 19091 with Queen Victoria on the cover and reports inside of her death; a May 1907 edition of Answers (some edge damage to the cover); a Children’s Newspaper from September 1920; and a July 22, 1917, World War One edition of the Sunday Pictorial with the front page showing images of the King presented 32 Victoria Crosses to recipients. Some browning, otherwise the condition appears very good for the age.
