John Barton, London - fine late 18th century  gold and en grisaille enamel verge pair cased pocket watch with matching gilt metal and enamel chatelaine, London 1777, signed fusee movement, no. 1818, with three-arm balance, pierced and engraved balance cock and rose diamond endstone, silvered regulating dial and square baluster pillars, engine turned gold dial with a matt chapter ring applied with black highlighted Arabic numerals and outer minute markers, the outer case with an enamel bezel, the case back painted with en grisaille enamel classical scene and white enamel floral and scroll decorated border on translucent blue ground, case maker 'TG', 47mm

** with a matching en grisaille enamel chatelaine, miniature cased charm and a gold and enamel crank watch key, length overall 185mm approx

More Information

Movement - very nice clean condition and currently functioning.
Dial - nice condition, some marks to the black numerals.
Glass - good.
Hands - matching.
Case - the inner case with wear to the hallmarks, with some light bruising; the outer case - with some white enamel loss to the bezel, also some areas of the blue ground with minor flaws ad losses; the case back generally in good condition with some white enamel loss and surface marks to the centre - please see all images for guidance.
Chatelaine - this is gilt metal with some typical marks to the clip, the enamel generally appears good, but note there are some small flaws present to the blue enamel in a few areas as shown on the images; the case charm has damage to the enamel on both sides; the key with enamel loss, the socket is good.
