A Charles II silver tankard, maker's mark EG (possibly by Edward Gladwin), London 1671, of tapering cylindrical with a raised hinged cover, a scroll thumbpiece and a S-scroll handle, on a reeded foot, the cover and sides later scroll chased, the interior later gilt, 16.5cm (6 1/2in) high, 789g (25.35 oz) Jackson (3rd edition, p. 129) records a cup, two tankards, and an alms dish by this maker between 1670 and 1680. Later chased and gilt inside. Cover not marked (full marks to side by handle, maker's mark to handle).
