A decorative mid-Victorian French black slate and rouge marble mantel clock with an unusual 24-hour dial, the eight-day duration movement striking the hours and half-hours on a bell with an outside countwheel and Brocot escapement, the round cream dial having black Arabic numerals and red Arabic twenty-four hour numerals to the inner aspect, with decorative blued-steel hands and signed A La Gerbe Fior, Sauget, Versailles, the black slate clock of classical design having inset rouge marble panels and engraved gilt decoration, height 32cm.
