Michel-Victor Acier was born on August 6, 1736, in Versailles. He studied in Paris, entered the École de l'Académie Royale under the patronage of Étienne-Maurice Falconet and, in 1759, won the first prize in sculpture at the former École Académique. He produced his first works in Paris, including several statues for a church in Burgundy.
He was attached as a sculptor-modeller to the porcelain factory in Meissen (Saxony) and became a member of the Dresden Academy.His masterpiece depicts the death of General Schwerin.
Michel-Victor Acier died in 1799, in Dresden
