A collection of 12 black onyx set rings, most stamped 'silver' or '925', including a range of sizes and designs.
We are pleased to be offering this lot from the stock of family run firm Shipton and Co., who were based in Hastings White Rock area, and who were unfortunately forced to close their doors in 2014 after a section of the rock face above collapsed onto their shop, making the building unsafe. A member of the chalcedony family black onyx was a favourite of Art Deco jewellers and craftsmen although it's popularity began thousands of years before, recorded in Minoan and Egyptian history and onyx is also mentioned several times in the bible. Believed to be a grounding stone black onyx is worn by many to balance conflicting drives and emotions and bring a sense of calm to its wearers. Many people associate the dark stone with steadiness, trustworthiness, and fidelity. It is also associated with good judgment and fortune.
