c.1890’s, a large pink mother of pearl fan, the leaf of black lace mounted à l’anglaise, shaped head, guard approx. 35cm, contained in a red silk covered fan box bearing the Duvelleroy London label; together with a similar period double layer black gauze fan, the leaf painted with a bird’s nest and a spray of pink flowers, the monture of black wood, silvered, guard approx. 34cm, and a third fan, c 1910, black gauze embroidered with silver sequins and spangles, the wood monture carved, pierced and clouté with steel, barrel head, guard approx. 23cm (3)
The MOP fan has a broken upper guard, with splint repair that has failed. At this point the lace is damaged. The gauze fan is detached from the ribs across most of the bottom border; the sequin fan appears in good order.
