Rare 1943 Air Ministry wooden flying helmet modelling head mounted on square wooden block, the head is solid wood (possibly oak) with facial features marked and numbered 1 for eyes, 2 for eyebrows, throat marked 1943/A.M./King's crown/4, side of head numbered 5 (ears), line around back of head numbered 3, bottom of neck also numbered 4 (this being the size), wooden base also marked 1943 A.M. and size 4, the head is 32cm tall and the block 4cm thick, block base measures 20cm x 19cm, head held to the base usually by 2 screws but 1 screw is missing, inkstamp to underside of base A.I.D. 9 S.F. in oblong box. Head starting to part slightly at the front, generally good very fine. The total weight is 5.5kg.
