UNIQUE(?) FIRST DAY OVERSEAS POSTCARD USAGE OF MAP STAMP EX OTTAWA TO G.B.; 7 Dec. 1898 PC to Liverpool with 2c Map Stamp (very slight perf. stains) tied by mainly fine "OTTAWA/1" Duplexes with partly fine red "PAID/LIVERPOOL/ U.S PACKET" cds (17 Dec.) on the front. The message refers to the stamp being issued "out today Dec. 7th - Imperial 2c postage however will not commence until Christmas Day". Exceptional First Day usage of this popular stamp and exceptional on a Transatlantic postcard. Believed to be the only recorded overseas postcard FDC usage. Exhibition Quality. [Ex Fawn.]
