£600 - £800
1936 archive sheet (230mm x 325mm) on embossed Stationery office paper, bearing nine ‘unemployment insurance’ revenues and one ‘Health & Pensions’ revenue, each handstamped with block ‘SPECIMEN’ overprint, each stamp applied as a basis for colour to select the schemes for the following years. Annotations in two columns on the right include rates e.g. ‘Exempt Man’, ‘Girl 16-17’, and in the right column, headed ‘selected at conference 14/3/36' the final shade of each colour e.g. ‘8d fawn’. Offered with accompanying sheet (190mm x 240mm) bearing the same stamps with further arrows and annotations. Some toning and crease through 2d green, nevertheless a unique archival record with much scope for further study. An important piece of the giant jigsaw that these issues represent!
