1839 Uniform Fourpenny Post (December 1839) Two entires both sent from Worcester and addressed to Ludlow, sent during the Uniform Fourpenny Postage experimental period. The first cover dated Decemeber 11th 1839 bearing a handstruck "4" in black and the second cover dated December 26th 1839 with a manuscript “4”. An attractive and scarce matched duo from this experimental period. Filing creases as often seen barely detracts, an important item in the story of uniform postage. Handstruck examples are very rare.
