Scottish. Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) Officers Shako. A good example, by Hawkes & Co. Black cloth, trimmed top and bottom with bands of black Thistle pattern lace. Black cords, attached by thistle ornaments and forming a plaited festoon in front. Bugle horn badge beneath a corded boss mounted with a mullet. Patent leather peak and chinstrap. Upright feather plume (black ostrich over black vulture) with ball socket and ring. Leather sweatband to the interior and retaining part of the silk lining, this with gold tooled tailors details. Complete with cap cords of regimental pattern. The shako retains a good shape, but with some age wear and stitching faults to the cord boss.
