Suetonius Tranquillus (Caius) The Lives Of The Twelve Caesars, The First Emperors Of Rome Full brown leather boards with gilt lettering to spine, leather boards are marked and slightly cracked in places due to age, boards corners are bumped and some loss of leather rubbed away and worn at the corners, spine is age darkened with bumping to top and bottom, ffep is missing, previous owner's mark on title page in ink, front inner hinge is cracked but holding, rear inner hinge is cracked but holding, frontispiece present with tissue guard present of the author Suetonius, text block is tanned, with some marks and page ends folded down (although clean), pp.520, twelve plates plus frontis, twelve engraved portraits of the twelve Caesars, some marginal worming to the centre base of the text block, but this is not affecting the text, Thomas Hodgkin, Black Swan, London, 1693. Rare in this early translation
