Three very different 19th century miser’s purses, the first worked in perhaps a knotted technique, with interlinked circles, in cream cotton, one end rounded with a small loop tassel, the other square with looped fringing, the two sections with the addition of bright blue beads and silver beads almost in a wave pattern, one gold ring, another perhaps original; together with a navy blue example , each section worked into a V shaped end, with an integral pattern in apricot and yellow, the rings in similar colours, each end finished with tri-colour silk tassels; and a larger example worked in green, cream and peach, one end with bands of colour, the other with meandering branches, buds and leaves, extravagant silk fringing to each end (3)
