A C15th Italian Renaissance gilded and painted pastiglia relief of the Madonna and Child, after Desiderio da Settignano (Italian c.1430-1464), in a tabernacle frame, ornate stylised decoration in gilt and lapis lazuli adorns the gessoed wood frame, with Latin inscription in red umber surrounding the central plaque. Please note areas of gesso are exposed, with evidence of historic woodworm, 12" high x 13" wide x 4" diameter
