Tortoiseshell tea chest, mid 19th Century, rectangular form with hinged cover inset with a view of the New Houses of Parliament, pewter line inlays, opening to a twin caddy interior, width 15.5cm, height 12cm, depth 10cm
De minimus ivory exemption applied for (Ref: 4JBYVSC2)

More Information

There is a bruise to the front of the tea caddy on the lefthand panel. There appears to have been water or damp that has snuck in behind the glass and has affected the vignette of the Houses of Parliament. The lid is loose at the hinges with splits to the ivory edging on the inside. There is a bend to the catch. There is no key. There are some small losses to the tortoiseshell on the caddy covers. The feet are missing. There are some losses to the pewter line inlays. Degradation and major losses to the zinc lining within the caddy. Overall an honest caddy but looking a little tired and neglected.
