TO JAPAN - RARE 6d-RATE COVER WITH G.B. 6d GREY & "SINGAPORE/TO HONG KONG" C.D.S.; 31 Jan. 1879 env. (top flap lost; ink-wash marks on reverse) from Malta to "Yedo" (Tokyo) with GB 6d Grey (pl.16) tied by a very fine "B/MALTA/A25" smaller Duplex, having a mainly very fine "SINGAPORE/TO HONG KONG" cds on the side-flap. Rare; early ingoing covers from Malta to Japan such as this are seldom seen. Exhibition Quality.
