Henry Robins, British (1820 - 1892)"H.M.S. Bellerophon," O.O.C., depicting a central battery ironclad three mast ship off a busy coastline, with other boats and ships, approx. 36cms x 75cms (14" x 29 1/2"), signed and dated lower left "H. Robins, 1880" and with inscribed gilt mount, oak frame. (1)úHMS Bellerophon was launched in 1865, was converted to a port guardship in 1892, then served as a stokers' training ship, and was sold for breaking up in 1922. Beresford served on her in Halifax for a few months in 1874, while her officers were in London attending an inquiry into the circumstances of her collision with a steamer off Cape St Vincent.
