A FIRST WORLD WAR CASUALTY TRIO TO THE GLOUCESTERSHIRE REGIMENT. A Great War Trio comprising 1914 Star named to 2240 Pte C.J. Bruce 1/Glouc R. War Medal and Victory Medal similarly named. Charles John Bruce was the son of Charles and Rose Bruce of Berrington, Campden, He served with the 1st Battalion and the Special Reserve, he died of wounds on the 3rd April 1919 having been discharged on the 14th June 1915, he was 37 years old. He is one of nine First World War casualties buried in St James, Churchyard, Chipping Campden, his headstone reads 'Also in memory of Private O. Bruce killed in action 19th July 1918'. With transmition slip. The O Bruce referred to might be 2nd Lieutenant O Bruce who died on the 9th June 1918 and is buried at Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimillle. *CR Usual slight surface marks, document folded.
