An interesting WW1 and long service group of five medals to a senior Royal Naval Reserve officer who was awarded the Mercantile Marine War Medal as well as the
1914/15 star trio for his wartime service with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary; consisting of:
1914/15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal, these three named to Commr GH Franklin RNR, Mercantile Marine War Medal named to George H Franklin and
RNR Officers Decoration (RD) EVIIR (hallmarks for 1909).
The medals are in extremely Fine (EF) condition and mounted with old silk ribbons as originally worn by the recipient. With a biographical note on George Harry Franklin and some notes on Royal Fleet Auxiliary ships in which he served, including as master of RFA Burma during WW1.
