A resident of Rock Ferry, Cheshire and employee of Lever Brothers. Enlisted on 31st May 1915. Posted on 9th September 1915 to 2nd Battalion, Cheshire Regiment. Landed in France to proceed to the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force on 10th September 1915. Arrived in Alexandria on 30th October 1915. Embarked ship for Salonika on 21st November 1916. Reported missing in action on 15th April 1918. Held as a prisoner of War in Bulgaria from 15th April 1918 until 31st October 1918. Repatriated to England on 17th November 1918. Demobilised on 18th February 1919.
