Seln of 1917-18 WWI Prisoner of War incoming stampless covers addressed to Turkish prisoners held at Bellary and Sumerpur POW Camps in India, and other items, accumulated by Bellary Camp Commandant Lt-Col. Thomas Moore Kirkwood (1865-1933), noting various Ottoman postal markings incl some with Kerkuk (in modern-day Iraq) cds, two with Ottoman rosette seals on reverse and various Ottoman and British censor marks and labels, two covers sent between POW camps marked 'FREE' and 'TURKISH OFFICERS / P. of W. Camp / SIDI BISHR' and endorsed 'Bellary', one pre-printed Red Crescent cover redirected from Thayetmyo Camp in Burma to Bellary, Basrah Times (Iraq) 'On Field Service' newspaper wrappers addressed to Commandant at Bellary Camp (x2), separate printings of the 'PRISONERS OF WAR, BELLARY / INDIA / CENSORED' cachet in violet, and some unused camp stationary. Also incl an 1915 Alexandria (Egypt) to Nowshera (India) Hospital Ship cover with 'BASE ARMY POST OFFICE / Z' cds and 'HOSPITAL SHIP GOORKHA' marking to an officer of the 94th Russell's Infantry (Kirkwood's regiment) (with tear at top) and a 1916 Peshawar to Nowshera stamped cover addressed to Kirkwood with contents from a Sergeant in the 27th Mule Corps - 'I wish to know whether you would accompany with the Regt. or otherwise as I wish to send a monkey statue', as well as a 1908 invitation card from Maharaja Sir Kishen Pershad of Hyderabad to attend the Langar Procession, a 1916 cover and letter in Arabic from Sultan of Muscat Taimur bin Feisal addressed to Kirkwood (with summary by Kirkwood in English and another cover containing the Sultan's royal calling card), and a 1918 letter from Nepali Prince Khadga Shumsher Jung, all on official letterhead.
