In early 1962 Ford replaced the Consul/Zephyr/ Zodiac range with a dramatically restyled model, although sharing some of its mechanical components, as well as the basic chassis design, with the Mark II models. Rather than continue the Consul name, Ford UK decided to call its replacement Zephyr 4, the 4 indicating that it still used the four-cylinder 1,703 cc engine from Consul 375. A four-speed manual gearbox, now with synchromesh on all ratios, was standard, with overdrive or automatic transmission available as options. Disc brakes were standard.

This example is a 5 previous owner, low mileage car having been subject to a major rebuild back in 2009, everything nut and bolt was stripped from the car except for the head lining so as to preserve this. The engine was rebuilt and now runs on unleaded fuel, all safety items like brake and suspension have been either rebuilt or replaced only if the original parts were beyond serviceable repair. The gearbox has been overhauled with new seals, full respray in original ford Windsor grey, bright work re chrome or professionally polished, the stunning red interior is all original and even has an uncracked dash top which is very rare as these usually dry out and split due to sun damage.

The bodywork was in very sound condition prior to rebuild needing only a few items welding which can be seen from the pictures. The vendor describes the car as an older restoration which is holding up extremely well and is ready to drive or show, the car is known in the mk3 club and has won many trophies for best zephyr 4. Present owner is a mk3 club member of some 35 years and this is his second time of ownership. Only selling due to moving commitments.
