A worksplate HUDSWELL CLARKE D1259 of 1962. From the prototype of the final design of standard gauge 0-4-0 diesel hydraulic locomotive built by Hudswell Clarke, fitted with a Cummins high-speed engine. Built in 1962 and trialled extensively until sold in January 1964 to the National Coal Board for use at Crigglestone Colliery, near Wakefield. To Grimethorpe Colliery near Barnsley 23rd August 1968. To South Kirkby Colliery, near Pontefract in April 1973 and finally to Woolley Colliery, Darton in October 1975. Scrapped on site at Woolley by C.F. Booth Ltd of Rotherham in April 1986. Cast brass, 12¾"x8¼", in ex loco condition, a score mark at the top. (Postage Band: B)
