Mid 19th Century Anglo-Ceylonise Coromandel work box of rectangular forum with scalloped edges. The lockable lid (key present) on brass hinges, opening to reveal its underside profusely inlaid with ivory dyed and engraved to depict an elephant within a garland of flowers, surrounded by images of birds and flanked by two male figures. The inside of the box fitted with lidded compartments in a variety of woods. Dimensions H 17cm, W 42cm, D 29.5cm. Ivory Certificate obtained: P88YMTY3
