The paint surface shows craquelure throughout, generally running vertically in line with the grain of the board. There is what appears to be a fine scuff approximately 4cm long to the central horse's hind quarters, but this does not extend past the edge of the horse, and so may be as the artist intended. Examination under UV reveals no evidence of repair or restoration. The frame appears to be structurally sound, but shows rubbing to the gilt finish of the inner reveal.
