£170
A Victorian garnet and enamel 18ct gold ring, the trefoil shaped head set with three oval old cut garnets, (each measuring 5mm x 3.5mm), set in yellow metal to a blue enamelled border, 10mm x 11mm, set to pierced tapering shoulders and plain polished shank, stamped 'WGSG' and '18CT', ring size L 1/2, weight 3.5gms
All stones are present. No cracks or losses, but stones show moderate to heavy abrasion to the facet edges. The claws are very heavily worn, most are completely worn away, and some re-tipping will be required, but the stones are not loose. The enamel to the surrounding border is heavily worn, and there is splitting to the edges. There is heavy solder to the sides and beneath the head (please see additional images for illustration). It is possible that the head may not be original to the shank. There is some signs of repair to the detail on one of the shoulders, but all detail is present and in tact. Shank is is good order, no splitting, thinning or repair. There is general scratching, wear and abrasion across the ring consistent with age and use.
