Houbigant: A Continental silver and silver-gilt malachite-mounted compact, the lobed oval box set with an oval painted plaque to the cover depicting 'The Shepherdess' after François Boucher within a malachite border, the reverse profusely engraved with scrolling foliage, the hinged cover opening to reveal a fitted interior with sprung lipstick holder and removable circular powder tray, each stamped HOUBIGANT to underside, the inside of the cover fitted with a mirror, stamped '800' to the gilt border. 6.7cm by 5cm, 1.9 troy ounces gross

Marked 800 to inside cover; stamped HOUBIGANT to powder tray and lipstick holder, each slightly rubbed/scratched. Cover closes securely. Foliate engraving to underside fine and crisp. Light surface scratches to inset hardstone to cover commensurate with age and use. Dirt marks to mirror. Generally very tidy.
