Royal Fusiliers Medal Group of Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Edward Boscawen Frederick CVO, 9th Baronet, Sir Edward saw service with the Royal Fusiliers during the Boer War and the Great War, he was a first class cricketer and played for Hampshire 1903 to 1907.
Comprising: Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (C1066) Queen’s South Africa Medal, 5 clasps Cape Colony, Tugela Heights, Orange Free State, Relief of Ladysmith, Transvaal, LIEUT E.B. FREDERICK 2/RL FUS, Kings South Africa Medal, 2 clasps South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902, (LT RL FUSRS), 1914/15 Star(CAPT R.FUS), British War Medal, Victory Medal (MAJOR), Defence Medal, GVR Jubilee Medal, GVIR Coronation Medal. Group remains mounted as originally worn. The group is accompanied by his wives WW2 Defence Medal (Private engraved LADY E.K.C. FREDERICK). Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Edward Boscawen Frederick CVO, 9th Baronet was born 1880 and after Sandhurst in 1899 was commissioned into the Royal Fusiliers, seeing service with the 2nd Bn during the Boer War. Following the end of the Boer War he returned with his Battalion and was posted as an Instructor at Aldershot, from 1903 to 1907 he made five appearances for Hampshire and took 9 wickets. He landed in France with the 3rd Bn on the 7th March 1915 and in May 1915 was severely wounded. He returned to duty and resigned his commission in 1919. In 1925, he was appointed an Exon in the King's Bodyguard of the Yeomen of the Guard. He served as Ensign from 1937 until his retirement in 1950. He succeeded to the baronetcy in 1938 upon on the death of his brother, Charles Edward St John Frederick. During the Second World War, he commanded a battalion of the Home Guard and in the New Year Honours list of 1944 was appointed a CVO. He died in 1956.
