In 1964 George Nakashima was invited to the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad India to lecture and offer some of his designs, this chair design is one of a series of designs given by the master on this trip, none of these designs were ever made by the hands of George Nakashima himself but by the students of National Institute of Design, these chairs are known as the George Nakashima Grass-Seated chairs which were originally designed in 1944, ours were executed in 1964 in India, made from teak and rope corded seats, as stated these chairs were produced by the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, India in 1964 after the original designs of George Nakashima, as with all of our furniture we have a full set of pre restored images proving age and also provenance
