VICTORIA/THURN & TAXIS - A WELL-TRAVELLED COVER (MULTIPLE REDIRECTIONS) TO MEINZ WITH RHOMBOID "F. ¦ 41" & DIAMOND "GB/1F624/10C" MARKS: 23 May 1868 unpaid EL (somewhat rubbed & creased) via Marseilles from Melbourne to Meinze, redirected to Le Mans then finally carried by Thurn & Taxis to the intended destination. Front bearing red diamond "GB/1F624/10C" accountancy mark (mostly fine) struck in Melbourne & scarce rhomboid "F. ¦ 41" mark (v. fine, crease - the French article demanding payment from Thurn & Taxis, in use 1868-69) along with boxed "FRANKRÜBER/T.[?]T[?]BELG" (fair), Melbourne duplex & "10" decimes h.s. & m/s "54" charges. Several French backstamps. Very scarce thrice redirected cover with a rare combination of G.B. & France accountancy marks.
