A scarce .38” rim fire Sharp’s Patent single shot rifle by Tipping & Lawden, 38” overall, barrel 23½”, the flat topped breech engraved with retailers name “James Bryce. Edinburgh”; the frame bearing the “Tipping & Lawden-Sharps Patent” mark around the hammer screw, with barrel release button beneath the fore end, sheath trigger, and extractor lever on the left side; walnut butt with chequered pistol grip. GWO & C. Sellers in “Sharps Firearms” states that only 150 of this model were made and that very few were made by Tipping & Lawden with steel frames, the majority were of brass. Plate 8
