AN ASHANTEE MEDAL 1874 to H.M.S. DECOY. An Ashantee Medal, veiled portrait of Victoria, reverse with a 'skirmish' in the jungle, named to W.H. Burrows A.B. H.M.S. Decoy, 73-74. Engraved naming. William Henry Burrows was born in Camelford in Cornwall on 31st January 1843. He entered the Royal Navy in 1872serving aboard H.M.S. Decoy between 30th October 1872 and 19th October 1874. H.M.S. Decoy was an Ariel class composite gunboat built at Pembroke. 'Discharged Dead' from H.M.S. Daedalus 6th July 1876 *Condition: Cleaned.
