A stunning pair of solid bronze figures of fairies with flower trumpets, standing on toad stools surrounded by toads. Attributed to the renowned British Sculptor John Sommerville born 1951 (studied at St Martins School of Art). Both are signed J Sommerville. Probably an early work of his from the late 1970s. The sculptor more recently known for works depicting celebrities and rock stars, some commissioned for the Hard Rock Cafe, New York. In 2014 he completed a full size bench in bronze "A Conversation with Spike (Milligan)" at Stephens House Gardens Finchley. Interestingly this has a figure of a small fairy at one end reading a Goons script which is similar in style to this pair. Height 51cm
