Louis Ward (1913 - 2005) - an original watercolour piece of artwork, completed by Bristol artist Louis Ward. The artwork is believed to have been created for an unissued cigarette card. Featuring a period couple ice-skating. Mounted and measuring approximately 30 cm x 42 cm including the mount.
Louis Arthur Ward was born in Bristol in 1913 and became a member of the local art community 'Bristol Savages' at the age of 21. After the war, he became a book illustrator and exhibited at the R.I., RWA and at Bristol Art Gallery. His painting of Christ in Gethsemane hangs in the Lady Chapel of Bristol Cathedral.
