A shoebox containing around 290 foreign, but mostly European, postcards, including the following in our first photo – a map card of the West Indies with an insert photo of the Two Pitons at St Lucia; a French card of an air balloon ascent; two real photo cards depicting sailing and steam ships in the harbour at Mauritius, always a keenly-sought collecting area, thought to be in 1929; a Bolivian ethnic card, showing the Indios Tobas; and three attractive real photographic PCs of Kimberley in South Africa, showing two street scenes and a diamond mine. The 2nd photo shows six French artist (Jean Droit) signed cards, with advertising – not postcard – backs; and packets from the following countries – Greece (3 cards), Czechoslovakia (11), Czech art (27 – see photo), Madeira (10), Austria (23, including several of the Gruss Aus – Greetings From – series), Hungary (36), Baltic/Holy Land (22), Holland with a couple of Luxembourg (38), Portugal (6), Sweden (16) and Denmark (18). There are also 66 of Belgium, including some railway station interest, printed street scenes and around ten dogs pulling carts; and 38 of Norway (see last photo).
