Horse racing. Victorian racehorse 'The Cur', his hoof converted to an inkwell in silver-gilt by Robert Garrard II, the lid engraved to both sides with his racing successes and the values of prizes won, London, 1851. A portrait of 'The Cur' with jockey Sam Rogers up, by John Ferneley (1782-1860) is in the Woolavington Collection of sporting paintings, Cottesbrooke Hall, Northampton.
