A rare 'James I' pewter flagon, unusually with touchmark and cast decoration, dated 1629
Having a knopped bun lid, a prominent erect ribbed thumbpiece with scroll and floral cast decoration, the truncated cone drum with upper and lower fillet, and with wrigglework initials and date A L 1629 below the ovolo-moulded collar, similar shaped foot rim, the single-curve handle terminating with a ridge above a rounded terminal cast with a five-petal flower, makers mark I? L within a beaded circle to handle, height 25.5cm
