Railway. Pre-Grouping. A rare collection of glass plate negatives, museum quality. The majority of the plates are 11cm x 8cm, there are 78 plates in total, including a few positives. Included in the lot are enprints of most of the plates as well as a couple of enlargements and hand written notes on some of the locomotive types in the collection. The plates feature in the main Great Northern Locomotives, including Stirling's Singles, with some North Eastern, Great Central and GWR/Canbrian locos and scenes mixed in. Locations noted: Kings Cross Top Shed c1900, Doncaster Station, Plaistow Shed, Acton, Aberdovey, Blisworth and York station. These have been in the vendors possession for a number of years, sadly little is known of the photographer, but there are some fine images captured around the turn of the 20th century. Captions are sketchy and some locations have been identified. Copyright to pass to the buyer. Samples illustrated were taken from the enprints. The plates are in good condition considering their age.
