A smokebox numberplate, 40396, from a Midland Railway 483 Class 4-4-0 No 396 built at Derby in 1923, retaining this number in its LMS days, becoming BR 40396. It spent its final years at Burton from where it was withdrawn in February 1961 and cut up by Cohens of Kingsbury at Water Orton by April 1962. Repainted. (Postage Band: D)
