MALTA - SOLDIER's 1d CONCESSION RATE COVER TO G.B. WITH VERY RARE CIRCULAR "FALMOUTH/1d/PAID"; 1 Nov. 1839 EL (slight toning; small closed hole at top) headed & countersigned for the 1d Concession Rate for a RM Private Thomas Perkin "On Board HM Brig Weazle" to Cornwall headed at "Malta Harbour" with a mainly very fine very rare circular red "FALMOUTH/1d/PAID" mark (Willcocks CO401; the 2nd-Type mark - see Ionian Is. cover above) on the front. This 1d Paid mark is rare because it seems only to have been used on mail that did not transit through London; few examples known.
