Martineau (Harriet, 1802-1876). An original manuscript document, signed by Harriet Martineau, dated 5th October (year unknown), with an image of the Knoll, Ambleside to front, possibly to Charles Gilpin (publisher), document discusses a re-print which she requests he send to some people the addresses of whom she will provide, 11.4cm x 18.2cm approx., document tipped-in onto card for display purposes. Martineau is regarded as the first female sociologist & a whig writer.
